Purpose of Position
The Property Operations Project Coordinator will ensure the efficient coordination and execution of capital improvement and maintenance operations across HALX’s multi-family portfolio. Primary Responsibilities

The VISTA will expand the capacity of the Community Development branch with the goal of assisting low-income Alexandrians in their journey to secure an affordable home from rental to ownership. Overview of Project
Virginia Housing Alliance’s (VHA) Virginia Housing Alliance’s (VHA) AmeriCorps VISTA project is a statewide intermediary project with 18 Host Sites, all that either works to expand affordable housing opportunities and/or end homelessness throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. VHA’s VISTA project aims to develop viable communities by promoting integrated approaches that provide decent housing, suitable living environments, and expansive economic opportunities for low and moderate-income persons. Housing Alexandria, whose mission is to develop and preserve quality housing that is affordable while also supporting residents so they may thrive as members of the Alexandria community, is looking for a proactive and driven individual to serve as the Development and Operations VISAA. The Housing Alexandria VISTA will focus on expanding the capacity of the Community Development branch with the goal of assisting low-income Alexandrians in their journey to secure an affordable home from rental to ownership by helping to secure funding through supporting event planning, marketing our program to new participants, creating targeted communication strategies, and identifying sources of partnership. The IT Associate (Tier I) serves as the primary point of contact for technical support across Housing Alexandria, resolving end-user issues and managing hardware and software assets. Position Requirements
This is a full-time hybrid position that requires a minimum of three (3) full days per week in the HALX offices. Tuesday & Thursday are mandatory on-site days, with occasional evening and weekend work. The team member must be locally in the DMV area and have reliable transportation, as travel within the city of Alexandria is required.

Salary and Benefits

Purpose of Position
This entry-level Accountant role supports the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting across HALX and its affiliated entities, with a primary focus on reconciliation and transactional accounting. The Accountant will be responsible for ensuring that corporate and property-level financial data is complete, accurate, and properly documented for monthly review.
This role requires a strong foundation in accounting principles, attention to detail, and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies efficiently. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and eager to learn, with a focus on maintaining reliable financial records and supporting consistent reporting processes. This position reports directly to the Accounting Controller.
Primary Responsibilities
Accounting
- -Perform monthly bank, general ledger, and subledger reconciliations for corporate and property accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies.
- -Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts in accordance with accounting principles and HALX standards.
- -Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals and adjustments, to support accurate month-end close.
- -Track, investigate, and resolve variances or inconsistencies across financial records.
- -Ensure all supporting documentation is complete, organized, and audit-ready.
- -Process and review accounts payable and receivable transactions for accuracy and proper coding.
- -Assist in monitoring outstanding balances and resolving discrepancies related to receivables and payables.
Reporting & Compliance
- -Assist in preparing monthly financial reports and supporting schedules for internal review.
- -Support the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- -Maintain consistency between corporate and property-level financial data.
- -Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and HALX policies.
- -Support audit processes by preparing documentation and responding to requests.
- -Identify opportunities to improve reconciliation processes, data accuracy, and reporting efficiency.
- -Collaborate with the Controller and cross-functional teams to strengthen financial processes and workflows.
Ongoing Work
- -Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending subject-relevant educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- -Actively participate in all team meetings, training sessions, and other appropriate meetings and conferences as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications
- -Associate’s degree with coursework in finance, accounting, or related subjects.
- -Experience with bank reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end/year-end closing.
- -Strong understanding of core accounting principles (GAAP or IFRS, as applicable).
- -Proficient financial analysis and problem-solving skills.
- -Detail-oriented with accuracy in financial reporting, data analysis, and documentation.
- -Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and independently.
