Housing Alexandria’s President & CEO Jonathan Frederick celebrated ten years as the President & CEO of Housing Alexandria earlier this month. Jon has dedicated his life to building stronger communities and increasing access to high-quality affordable housing.
Prior to working for Housing Alexandria, Jon worked for the City of Alexandria as a Housing Analyst and for the nonprofit organization Volunteers of America as its Development Director. He joined the Housing Alexandria team in 2015 as its President & CEO and sole team member. Despite being a team of just one, he had a clear vision of all that Housing Alexandria could become.
During his time with Housing Alexandria, Jon presided over the impressive and rapid growth of the nonprofit. When Jon joined, Housing Alexandria owned and operated fewer than 200 units of rental housing. In just ten years, Housing Alexandria’s team has grown to over 20 members, and Housing Alexandria now manages over 900 rental units, with over 500 units currently under construction. Under Jon’s leadership, Housing Alexandria has not only focused on building units, but also on building community through partnership with local organizations to incorporate direct services and community spaces into Housing Alexandria’s operations and properties. Jon has leveraged his extensive network of personal connections built through mutual respect and trust to ensure the success of Housing Alexandria in these efforts.
Jon is an engaged citizen, an exceptional leader, and a friend to many. We are proud to take this opportunity to celebrate Jon for the work that he has done and for the person that he is. We look forward to thriving under his leadership and example for years to come.
