Housing Alexandria is proud to share that our first venture into homeownership, Cardinal Path, won the Virginia Governor’s Housing Conference’s award for Best Home Development!
Cardinal Path Homes is a 43-unit affordable housing community developed by Housing Alexandria. The project includes 36 homes available for purchase by first-time homebuyers with an AMI of 80% or below, along with 7 units owned by Sheltered Homes of Alexandria and reserved for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This program is able to open doors to families that have lived in Alexandria for years, but now can officially call the city their home.
Last October, we celebrated a major milestone with a ribbon-cutting event at Cardinal Path Townhomes. We were honored to have the Mayor of the City of Alexandria, Alyia Gaskins, join us for the occasion. It was a special moment to come together with partners, supporters, and community members to inaugurate a project that represents years of collaboration and commitment.
This achievement was made possible through strong partnerships. Housing Alexandria collaborated closely with local landowners, the City of Alexandria, and Sheltered Homes of Alexandria to assemble parcels and secure funding from national, state, and local sources.
We’re incredibly proud of everyone involved in bringing Cardinal Path to real life, and grateful to see this project recognized at the state level.
Cardinal Path is not just about the homes. Our homeownership program was instrumental in ensuring that these homes went to Alexandrians who need them, and the stewardship program will contain transition support to these first-time homeowners.
Your gift directly supports these families, and ensures that we are able to continue projects like these.
