The Alexandria Housing Development Corporation (AHDC) is a non-profit developer and owner of affordable housing, primarily focused on projects located in the City of Alexandria, Virginia. Mission and Goal: AHDC's mission is to preserve and produce affordable rental and for-sale housing for low and moderate income households. The organization's goal is to make it possible for income-eligible individuals and families to obtain safe, high-quality housing and to help build supportive communities in which to live. Welcome to our new Board member, Jack Corrado, and congratulations to Board member, Kerry Donley, who is now, once again, a duly elected member of City Council and will serve as the City's Vice Mayor. AHDC is now no longer accepting resumes for the position of Executive Director. Also, construction is well underway at The Station at Potomac Yard which is part of the overall Potomac Yard project being developed on the former railroad yard. This innovative mixed-use project combines affordable housing, retail, and a state-of-the-art fire station. This project, even though still under construction, has won numerous prestigious awards as an exemplary green and affordable housing development. Virginia's Governor Tim Kaine together with Susan Dewey of VHDA toured The Station on March 16th as the project is a unique example of the Governor's Renew Virginia program to build green and conserve energy.
