Jonathan Frederick, Executive Director

Jon has over ten years of experience in the affordable housing and urban planning fields. Prior to joining AHDC, Jon worked as the director of development for Volunteers of America where he oversaw all real estate development activities for the organization in the mid-Atlantic region. Jon has extensive experience in both the development entitlement process and affordable housing finance. Jon’s sits on the Alexandria Housing Affordability Advisory Committee, the Northern Virginia Affordable Housing Alliance Advisory Committee, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners.


Aaron Remolona, Project Manager

Aaron Remolona has over seven years of experience in real estate finance and asset management. Prior to joining AHDC, Aaron worked as an Associate at Clark Realty Capital, overseeing the financial performance of a public-private real estate partnership at Fort Belvoir, VA. Before working at CRC, Aaron worked for Sunrise Senior Living as an Analyst on the Capital Markets and Investments Team, performing valuations of real estate asset during all stages of the investment process.


Jennifer Skow, Project Manager

Jennifer Skow has four years of experience in the affordable housing and urban planning industries and recently joined AHDC in November 2016. Prior to joining AHDC, Jennifer worked at the DC Department of Housing and Community Development where she led the FY2016-FY2020 update to the District’s Consolidated Plan, a document that guides over $280 million in federal resources from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Before working at DHCD, Jennifer participated in the Capital City Fellows Program, a mayoral leadership initiative in District Government, and she worked as a real estate development associate for the Community Preservation and Development Corporation. Jennifer is certified in both Housing Development Finance and Historic Real Estate Finance by the National Development Council. She earned her Master of Science in Planning from Florida State University.


Garth Robinson, Asset Manager

Garth has over nine years’ experience working in real estate.  His overall background includes property management, market analysis, budgeting and financial analysis.  Prior to joining AHDC, Garth worked as a property manager for Donohoe Real Estate Services, overseeing the management of various asset types for federal and private tenants.  He has a Bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech and completed his Masters at Georgetown. 


Fang Buchanan, Accountant

Fang Buchanan has ten years of experience in accounting and finance. She has a solid background in Federal Grant Management, Budgeting, Revenue Recognition, and Financial Reporting. Fang earned a Masters of Science Degree in Accounting from Strayer University. 


Kayla Hornbrook, Communications and Development

Kayla Hornbrook has three years of non-profit program operations and development experience. Prior to AHDC, she worked for the Salvation Army in both Seattle, Washington and Alexandria, Virginia as a program coordinator, overseeing program operation and design, managing volunteers and student staff, and creating digital media. She received her bachelor's from the University of Washington, Seattle. 


Elisa Mondragon, Administrative Assistant

Elisa Mondragon recently made the move to Alexandria from New York City where she worked at Whole Foods Market in their Marketing team helping educate customers and the community on healthy eating, holistic health, and environmental stewardship through the development of community programs with The New York Botanical Garden, Westchester County Parks, Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture and the Bronx County School District among many others. Her work with nonprofit organizations started in 2006 where she worked with the Community Arts Center of Las Vegas while obtaining two bachelors from UNLV.  


Jewel Wright, AmeriCorps VISTA / Resident Services

Jewel Wright, AmeriCorps VISTA and Resident Services Coordinator, relocated to Alexandria from Durham, North Carolina. She has 4 years of social service experience. Prior to joining AHDC, Jewel worked as a Case Manager for UNC Horizons, a substance use disorder treatment program for pregnant and/or parenting women and their children. Jewel received bachelor’s degrees in Social Work and Women’s Studies from North Carolina State University. In her free time Jewel enjoys traveling and blogging.


Matthew Rhodes, Graduate Intern 2018

Matt Rhodes is a graduate student at Virginia Tech studying urban and regional planning. Prior to joining AHDC, Matt worked for a geographic information systems contractor in Pittsburgh, PA and a law firm in Washington, DC. He graduated from Penn State University in 2012 and received a graduate certificate in Geographic Information Systems in 2015.
