*NOTE: (5/13/19) This post now contains figures that are out of date. We will be providing an updated version of this graphic as we are able. In the meantime, you can access current year income limits from the HUD Database.

As the cost of living changes and incomes grow, so too does the key Area Median Income (AMI) calculation that affects affordable housing operations across the nation. Effective April 2018, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) calculates the DC Metro AMI to be $117,200 for a family of four, an increase of $6,900 from the year prior. Our region has the highest AMI calculation in the nation.

AHDC has updated its AMI, Explained infographic to reflect these new numbers. You can learn more from the HUDuser.gov and the Virginia Housing Development Authority.
