Our Station garden renovation is complete!
These new beds are currently growing kale, lettuce, and strawberries - fresh, start of season produce perfect for salads and smoothies. Each bed contains it's own irrigation line and specialized flooring to retain water and soil health. The strawberries are also part of a collaboration with the University of the District of Columbia to study rooftop produce hardiness in urban environments.
Thank you, thank you to the dedicated folks at Rooftop Roots and the Station volunteers who made these new gardens possible. We can't wait to see what grows out of them.
And thank you to all our Spring2ACTion donors who are investing in the future of this garden and others, and in the future of low-income Alexandrians, by joining our Community Gardens Campaign. There is still time to give - click here to donate today!
